Administration

Executive Director, Stacey Cohen,  received her Master’s Degree from New York University in 1984 in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. Stacey was an Assistant Director at Children’s Energy Center in Greenwich Village, New York, and at age 25, became the Director of the preschool program at the YMCA of Greater New York in Chelsea. While working for the YMCA, Stacey was awarded the job from the Government Services Administration (GSA) to design and manage the first government sponsored childcare center in New York City at Federal Plaza. Once Federal Plaza opened, she designed the childcare centers which opened at 1 Police Plaza and the Veteran’s Administration. Stacey later became Director of Phelps Childcare Center in Tarrytown, NY and when her family relocated to Chicago, she was a roving manager for Children’s World Learning Centers there. While in Chicago Stacey also taught a class at the local community college to students interested in opening their own childcare facility. When Stacey’s family relocated again to Norwalk, CT 25 years ago, she and her family joined Temple Shalom and she volunteered a year of service at Temple Shalom preschool.
