At Temple Shalom we celebrate a teenager's ongoing commitment to Judaism and Jewish life with a confirmation ceremony at the end of 10th grade. Leading up to this important milestone, our confirmation class will meet regularly to discuss Jewish values and topics related to sharpening one's own Jewish identity. Our special ceremony will be held on the holiday of Shavuot, when we commemorate receiving the Torah on Mt. Sinai, and symbolically pass down it's wisdom to the next generation. On that day, the 10th grade class will assist our clergy in leading the service, and will share their thoughts on how they identify as Jews within our community. Our students find participation in confirmation to be a particularly meaningful experience that continues to enrich and inform their Jewish identity through interactive and engaging discussion. In our meetings with Rabbi Cantor Shirah and Rabbi Jason, students will learn and engage with topics that help to shape their future as Jewish adults help to further define their role in the greater community. We hope that your 10th grade student will participate in this year's confirmation class. Our Confirmation service will be held on Friday, June 7th, at 8:00 pm, and our class sessions will be held on the following dates: Sunday, March 17th at 11:00 am in person at the Temple Wednesday, April 10th at 7:00 pm on Zoom Sunday, May 5th at 11:00 am in person at the Temple Wednesday, May 8th at 7:00 pm on Zoom Sunday, May 19th at 11:00 am in person at the Temple Dress Rehearsal – Wednesday, June 5th from 4:00-5:30 pm in person at the Temple with both Rabbi Cantor Shirah and Rabbi Jason Ceremony – Friday, June 7th at 8:00 pm
